Congratulations to a wonderful family near Des Moines, Iowa that now has a new family member. Hennie will be well loved by Dante and family!

Hennie was the first beagle puppy we ever saved back to keep for a pet and to have puppies from. The girls had lots of fun with her, but we didn't train her to do any tricks (she doesn't know to sit, lay, stay, etc.)...her role with us was just to play and run on the farm. She loves people, and is a very playful beagle compared to other mature females. That might be because she is still young. She's just an awfully-happy dog, and the girls have fun with her even though she doesn't know tricks.

She has been an outdoor dog, and is not housebroken. We live in the country, and Hennie has been allowed to roam free as well as living in a fenced-in run. Hennie has never left home, but in town, we'd recommend a fenced-in area or leash until Hennie knows her boundaries.

Probably the worst part about Hennie is that she pulls when we walk her. Granted, we haven't walked her on a leash for about 6 months. We took her to town to walk once, and my 8 year old daughter said Hennie pulled too hard for her to enjoy the walk. Maybe now that she's maturing, she won't be so bad about it because she may become less curious over time.

We are offering Hennie to a new home because she had 3 puppies with overbites in her first litter. While this may have come from the father of the puppies (he is now neutered), we feel it is advisable to us to not rebreed Hennie. This has been a hard decision, because the father to those puppies produced a couple overbites in another litter. It may not be due to Hennie at all. However, if we find a good, new home for Hennie soon, we will definitely let her go to ease our minds.

If Hennie is spayed before leaving us, we will also offer her registration papers, marked "spayed." If Hennie is not spayed before leaving us, we will keep her registration papers.
